This is a tool to view, modify, and optimize your SVG files for laser cutters.
You can see the paths and their details, animate the movement of the laser head, add and remove nicks, and reorder the paths to create a shorter overall length.
For more information, click the Help button in the bottom left corner.
Menu Options | |
---|---|
Open SVG | lets you open an SVG file from your computer. You may also open SVG files by dragging them directly into this window. |
Save SVG | will save the SVG with any changes you made to a new file. |
Reset SVG | will revert the SVG to the version you uploaded, removing any changes you made. |
Close SVG | will close the SVG file. |
Open Background Image | lets you open a PNG or JPG file from your computer to set as the background. You may also open background images by dragging them directly into this window. |
Close Background Image | will close the background image. |
Close All | will close the SVG file and the background image. |
Auto Sequence | will automatically reorder the paths of your SVG to try and minimize the travel length. * |
Undo | will revert the last action you took. Only the last 5 actions are saved and can be undone. |
* It is computationally impossible to find the shortest sequence of paths in a reasonable amount of time (see the travelling salesman problem for more information). Thus, auto sequencing isn't guaranteed to find the shortest possible sequence. It does, however, do it's best to find a near optimal sequence in a reasonable amount of time. The running time increases drastically the more paths your SVG has; therefore, the process allows you to select how long you want it to run for. |
Sidebar Options | |
---|---|
DPI | must be set to the DPI at which the SVG file was created to make sure the calculations are correct. |
Units | can be set to pixels, inches, or centimeters. The calculations will show up in the selected units. |
Direction Markers | can be toggled to show or hide the direction arrows on the paths. |
Cut Order Labels | can be toggled to show or hide the numeric order labels on the paths. When toggled off, you will not be able to click the paths to perform actions. |
Travel Paths | can be toggled to show or hide the paths that the laser will travel between cuts. |
Animate Path | allows you to see an animation of the path the laser will take. |
Path Click Actions
• Left click on a path's order label to perform the action selected in the Path Click Action dropdown.
• Right click on a path's order label to view details about the path.
|
|
---|---|
Show Details | will show you information about the path (same as right clicking a path). |
Change Position | will move the path to a position of your choice. |
Sequence Paths | will move the path to the next position in the sequence, which auto increments. This is a quicker version of the Change Position action that lets you reorder all of your paths in sequence. |
Split at Point | will cut a path into 2 parts, at a point of your choosing. You can specify how much of the path will get cut out. |
Split into Equal Parts | will cut a path into multiple parts of equal length. You can specify how many parts will be created and how much of the path will get cut out at each cut. |
Connect Paths | will connect the end of the first path you select to the beginning of the second path you select with a straight line. |
Reverse | will reverse the direction of the path. |
Delete | will remove the path from the SVG. |
